About Us

Our mission is to encourage structured, friendly team competition during the summer. We seek to create a fun, fair and wholesome environment in order to develop swimming skills, encourage good sportsmanship and teamwork, and foster an appreciation of the relationship between effort and success.

The Stonegate Serpents Swim Team is a member of the Montgomery County Swim League (
www.mcsl.org).  This league currently consists of 87 teams in 15 divisions ("A" through "O") with six teams in each division.  Division assignments are based upon the previous season's swimmer times.

The Stonegate Serpents finished first in Division B last year. Swimmers showed up and swam hard!  We begin the summer of 2010 ranked second in Division B.

We are so proud of our swimmers and our coaches!

New to the team?

If your child is just getting started and you are unsure how to register him/her, please see below for guidelines.

8 and Unders (Regular Team): must be able to swim half a length of the pool using a freestyle-like motion
*Pre-Team: must be able to float face down in the water for at least 5 seconds on command - swimmer should be generally comfortable in the water
*Lessons: unable to float face down in the water for at least 5 seconds on command - swimmer has not developed a general comfort level in the water

*Lessons and Pre-Team both start after MCPS lets out.  Parents may use the time between when the pool opens and when MCPS lets out to have their child evaluated by Brian for proper group placement.
